Hoyt Park in Scripps Ranch is a nice neighborhood park with a playground and a HUGE grassy area. There are no restrooms. For concerts in the park, they bring in portable toilets.
Alcohol IS allowed at Fairbook Park, but you cannot have kegs or glass (you should never bring glass to any park for safety reasons anyway).

Hoyt Park Playground
The playground at Hoyt Park has one structure (for ages 5-12) and a swing set. The play structure has an impressive 4 slides (one medium twisty slide, 3 small slides), and a couple of things to climb. There are two baby (bucket) swings and two regular (saddle) swings. The ground covering for the play area is bark. It is not shaded, but there is shade from trees nearby. A picnic table is also close to the play area.

This tree is also near the playground. Children have always loved walking on the nearly-horizontal branches 🙂
Large Grassy Area
During the summer, Hoyt Park is home to concerts in the park. The grassy area is HUGE and many hundreds of people can fit comfortably around the stage.

Trail at Hoyt Park and History
Hoyt Park in Scripps Ranch has an out-and-back trail. You can read more about the trail at Hoyt Park (and all the trails in Scripps Ranch!) here.
Hidden San Diego has information about the trail at Hoyt Park too, and a bit about the history of the park! According to Hidden San Diego:
[Hoyt Park] is most likely named after San Diego landscape architect Roland Hoyt.
Hoyt is notably responsible for helping with the design Presidio Park alongside the “Father of Balboa Park,” George Marston. Hoyt was a member of the San Diego Park Commission in the 1940’s and later served as the consulting landscape architect for San Diego’s Mission Bay Park. In 1960, Hoyt designed the landscape for the Salk Institute.
Stage at Hoyt Park
One of my favorite summer activities is a good Concert in the Park! With this stage at Hoyt Park, it’s a perfect venue for a summer concert in the park. There are no restrooms at Hoyt Park, but for concerts, portable toilets are brought in.
