Total Upgrade
The Mandell Weiss Eastgate playground got a total upgrade. It now features a new, fully adaptive accessible playground (which is fully fenced), an upgraded bathroom building, new covered picnic area/pavilion, and a Harmony Village.
The project was managed by C&S Companies.
Accessible Playground at Mandell Weiss
I love a fun playground! And I believe that playgrounds should be accessible. The Hanna & Mark Gleiberman Family Playground is designed to promote a safe and welcoming environment for children. The goal is to help empower children with disabilities and create a bias-free environment. This park features wheelchair accessible playground equipment, sensory garden, and nature themed equipment for all children to engage and improve their motor skills, memory function, patience, and problem solving.
Much of the play structure is accessible with a wheelchair and, because the ground covering is rubber, all the areas around the play structures are accessible too. There are two ADA swings, a wheel chair accessible glider, a wheel chair accessible spinner, and accessible panels.

The playground is named for San Diego couple Hanna and Mark Gleiberman, who donated $1 million to the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center (LFJCC) Jacobs Family Campus to build a fully accessible playground. The couple, who have three children of their own, said they hope the playground will build “camaraderie among kids and to provide an opportunity for all parents to be able to play with their children.”

The playground is FULLY FENCED, with access gates to enter/exit.

You can see the fence behind this Cozy Dome, which is designed as a play of refuge for children. It’s a space for children to take a break by themselves or socialize together.

Mandell Weiss Park has something for every kid! If your child loves to climb, they will enjoy this climbing rock (with rope ladder) and climbing wall:

Harmony Village
There is a separate area (within the fence) with a nature-themed harmony area. How sweet is it??? I love the flower-shaped musical instruments!

Sand Box at Mandell Weiss Eastgate Park
I love a shaded sand play area! This is right next to the pavilion and has a large sand box. It also has sand play tables!

Pavilion at Mandell Weiss Eastgate Playground
The Sharon and David Wax Family Pavilion at the Mandell Weiss Eastgate Park is in the middle of all the action! It, also, is fully adaptable because it has no fixed furniture or equipment. You can make the space however you need it! It’s a large, shaded space, within the fence of the playground.
To reserve the pavilion, please call the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center at 858-362-1349.

Bathrooms

The upgraded comfort station (bathroom building) at Mandell Weiss Eastgate Park is so nice! It features separate men’s/women’s areas. The women’s area had a changing table. I don’t know about the men’s side. It also had drinking fountain and water bottle refill station.

A Beautiful Nature-Themed Space!
I loved the adorable nature theme of Mandell Weiss Eastgate Park! Here are a couple of my favorite features:
