Benefits to a Park Wedding
Planning a wedding can be so stressful! But, I felt that everything started to fall into place once we picked the venue when we were planning my wedding.
- Unique Opportunities: There are few places that can give you stunning views of the San Diego Skyline, such as Centennial Park or Bayview Park in Coronado. Felicita Park provides a great venue to get married among oak trees. And, if you’re looking for a grassy area in La Jolla with ocean views, check out Calumet Park or Cuvier Park. Parks in San Diego might have exactly what you’re looking for!
- Dogs allowed: If you want man’s best friend to be best man or your pup to be ring bearer, getting married in a park might be perfect. Some wedding venues don’t allow dogs, but most parks do. If you want to invite Fido, just make sure dogs are allowed.
- Cost: Even with the costs associated with having a park wedding (rentals, permits), you’ll likely save money by getting married in a park. Permit fees range from $25 to $2,000, but most are are around $100.
- Your Perfect Date: Some parks may offer you the opportunity to get married on your desired date. This is because cities usually issue permits 3-6 months from your date. However, some park venues are very popular and reserving them can be more challenging.

While researching all the parks in San Diego for my database, I paid particular interest to parks where you can get married. My sister got married at Cuvier Park (“the wedding bowl”) in La Jolla, one of my bridesmaids got married at Leo Carillo Historic Park, and I’ve been to a couple of weddings at the San Diego Botanic Garden – all beautiful venues for park weddings in San Diego!
