Bonita Cove Playground – SNEAK PEEK!

Bonita Cove playground in Mission Beach started a $3.4 million makeover just last year, and now it’s almost open to the public again!

There’s a lot to see in this awesome facelift… starting with the rope course based on the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster at Belmont Park, just across the street. How cool does this look??

Other upgrades to the park in the playground include renovating the half acre of play space, replacing the comfort station (restrooms), installing a new shade structure and new security lighting, as well as upgrading the sidewalks to be ADA-compliant (Americans with Disabilities Act).

The new restrooms will be unisex, with stalls available to any gender and the sinks located outside.

Once complete, the Bonita Cove Playground will be renamed in honor of Maruta Gardner, a neighborhood resident and activist. Gardner was struck and killed by a drunk driver in 2016, while she was cleaning up graffiti on a corner near  Jetty Road and Mission Boulevard.

I can’t wait to check out this cool new playground in person when it opens next month!

Baby swings and a shaded play structure. I also spotted a four person teeter-totter and a group swing.

Some fun spinners and rubber ground play surface.
