In a previous post, I broke down the many policies for alcohol consumption in San Diego Parks (it varies by area AND whether or not it a San Diego County Park). I’ve seen some webpages that say they have a list of parks where you can drink alcohol, but unless you have a list of ALL the parks in San Diego (which we do!), then you can’t compile a list of all the parks that allow alcohol in San Diego 🙂
It’s something I paid particular attention to while I was researching all the parks in San Diego for my database. Although I’m not a big drinker myself, it’s nice to have an occasional beer or wine at a park! This list represents hours and hours of my time researching each and every park I could find in San Diego – please don’t steal it (feel free to link here instead!).
One quick disclaimer: This is a compilation of information available online, and updated to the best of my ability. I am not responsible for any fines or charges brought against an individual relying solely on this information.
Also, glass containers are generally prohibited at any park (it is dangerous to bring glass to parks regardless), so please don’t bring glass beer or wine bottles or wine glasses. Bring out the cans of beer and boxes of wine (and plastic cups)!
Alcohol Policy at Specific Parks
The easiest way to determine if a specific park in San Diego allows alcohol is to search for the park in our database and click on the “alcohol policy” tab. Of course, rules and laws are subject to change – if there is signage at the park prohibiting alcohol, then it’s best to abide by them. Another tip is that you can click on the “Park Details” tab and see if there is a number to call for reservations or information about the park, then you can call and double-check.
Alcohol Policy in Specific Areas
If you’re interested in the general policies for alcohol at parks in San Diego, then go here. For example, beer and wine are allowed at parks in Santee and Carlsbad. Alcohol is not allowed at parks in Escondido (except Felicita Park, because that is a SD County Park).
Parks that Allow Alcohol in San Diego
Here is a list of all the parks that allow alcohol in San Diego (or, more specifically, not prohibited per Municipal Code Section 56.54 (or other local code), which outlines the parks where alcohol is NOT allowed). There are over 150 parks!
